Welcome to Phoenix Rod and Gun Club. This club,
founded in 1947 has long been known as the center of marksmanship
excellence and expertise in the Phoenix area.
Located in south Phoenix, where 7th avenue hits South Mountain, the
club has 7 simultaneously operable ranges from 10 meter Olympic air gun
to 500 yard high power rifle. The club has the best equipped and most
active bullseye pistol range in the state, the only functional 25 meter
Olympic rapid fire range in the state, active NRA smallbore and high
power divisions as well as black powder, junior, IPSC and IDPA pistol.
State and regional championships in several disciplines are held at our
range. Several past and future Olympic shooters are members of the
club.
In
order to ensure (and fund) safe and legal range operation and encourage
dedicated shooters to join our club we have a few simple membership
requirements
Upon first applying to join the club, and paying
of the dues & initiation fee (fees may be paid 1/2 first, 1/2 later
upon full membership) Applicants will become "probationary members".
Upon verification of all of the above requirements applicants will
become full members. During the probationary membership period, new
members will pay member fees (if any) for all events but will not have
unescorted access to the range facilities as a full member does.
Again
these rules are intended to ensure the club is a safe and enjoyable
place for all and we expect most applicants will be approved to full
membership within hours or weeks of first applying.
(Exceptions
to the above will be considered on a case by case basis, for instance,
someone living out of state could ask to postpone the range tour until
his next visit.)
The Phoenix Rod & Gun Club requires that you prove some level of firearms safety competence. This can be accomplished by attending a periodic new shooter safety orientation, but most shooters who want to join the club already have lots of safe shooting experience, those who shoot division matches regularly can have the match director attest to their safety competence during the probationary period. Alternately, written proof of prior training can be supplied. Below are examples of proof of competence that we accept. A copy of any one of the following documents can be provided with your application or shown to an officer or range master during your probationary period:
Any competitive shooting classification card issued by a sanctioning body (i.e. NRA, USAS, IDPA, IPSC, etc...)
Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit,
